Regional Economic Development (ED) Assessment Report: This report will be developed by the Economic Development Task Force. A variety of organizations will be involved including regional, county and local development groups. Education, job training, and workforce are also vital to the region’s economy; and representatives of the three area technical colleges, will be invited to participate on the Task Force.
The NCWRPC is a designated economic development district and develops the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the region; the reports will be integrated together. A primary goal of this effort will be to efficiently link jobs and centers of trade with areas where people live.
The Assessment Report will examine the regional economy, analyze strengths and weaknesses, and determine desired clusters to retain or attract, and identify appropriate sites for economic activity. These entities are working with State agencies, the business community, and economic development corporations on a range of education and job training projects. A variety of strategies will be developed to spur economic development and promote efficient use of the existing transportation networks. Benchmarks and metrics will be established for monitoring and evaluation.
