WHAT IS THE NCWRPC?
The NCWRPC is a public agency dedicated to providing professional planning services to member local governments. We provide both local and regional assistance in the areas of economic development, geographic information systems (GIS), intergovernmental cooperation, land use planning and transportation.

WHY WAS THE NCWRPC CREATED?
The NCWRPC was the ninth regional planning commission created under Wisconsin Statute s.66.0309. Since 1973, the purpose of the NCWRPC has been to prepare plans for the physical development of the Region and its communities, to conduct research, to serve as a data center, to serve as a forum for communication, cooperation and coordination among federal, state, regional and local interests, and to provide technical services to its membership.

HOW IS THE NCWRPC FUNDED?
The NCWRPC is funded through three basic sources. These are grants from federal and state programs, a local membership fee based on equalized valuation of its member governments and local project contracts. The goal of the NCWRPC is to provide cost-effective planning services to its members.

HOW IS THE NCWRPC GOVERNED?
As detailed by Wisconsin statute, the NCWRPC is governed by three commisioners from each member county. These commissioners oversee the activities of the executive director and the staff.

DOES THE NCWRPC DUPLICATE EXISTING STAFF?
No! The NCWRPC fills the gap where there is existing staff and takes the lead where there is none. The goal is to provide an effective system of planning to fit each member's need.
